My name is Gemma.

I am a lecturer, a nurse, a mother, a woman and now a researcher. This blog is designed to capture and collate my work. Some of these will be critical reflections and musings on my doctoral journey. by musings I mean: an outpouring of sleep deprived hysteria and some semblance of rational thought. A heady mix I am sure will agree.

My PhD looks at depictions of illness in film, however there are a variety of sub-topics that have emerged within this research question. This is my space to explore those.

I have up to seven years to complete my doctorate part time.

I am six months in – I spend a lot of time pondering whether I can mainline coffee into my blood stream.
